Edgar Miguel Ie is a Portuguese footballer who was born on 1st May, 1994 in Bissau, Guinea Bissau. He is a right footed Central Defender who also plays as a Right Back at times. He currently plays for Lille OSC and Portugal National Football Team.
Background
Edgar joined Sporting Clube de Portugal youth team in 2008 at the age of 14. He played there for 4 seasons before moving to Barcelona in 2012.
He started playing for the Barcelona B team in the Segunda Division. He made his debut against Elche FC on December 2012 in a 1-1 draw. Edgar was called up to represent Portugal U19 team in the 2012 UEFA European Under 19 Championship but he missed the tournament due to injury.
He made his only appearance for Barcelona senior team in December 2014 against SD Huesca during the last 32 of Copa Del Rey. Barcelona won the Copa Del Rey that season.
In 2015, Edgar moved to Villarreal FC on a 3 year deal where he played for the Reserves team before moving to Lisbon to play for Belenenses in 2017.
In July 2017, Edgar moved to Lille OSC for 3 million euros. His transfer amount is the highest received by the Belenenses team for any player.
Debut
Edgar Ie made his International debut for Portugal team against Saudi Arabia in an International friendly. Portugal won the match 3-0.
