Eljero Elia: A Brief Biography
Eljero Elia is an Dutch footballer who plays majorly as a Left Wing and other positions of Right Wing and Secondary Striker. Hailing from Leidschendam-Voorburg, Netherlands, he presently plays for the Turkish Team. Born on 13 February 1987 he started his youth career at a very early age of 9 years from ADO Den Haag, a dutch national club.
Club Career
Starting his career from ADO Den Haag, he has played before for many amature clubs. Elia’s youth career has mainly two clubs in the picture which includes Azax and ADO Den Haag.
He has played for many clubs which includes ADO Den Haag, Twente, Hamburger SV, Juventus, Werder Bremen, Southampton, Feyenoord and İstanbul Başakşehir. Eijero started his professional career in 2004 by making debut against Groningen at the age of 14. In the same season he played four matches and scored one goal.
He had made 59 appearances and scored 6 goals for the club before moving to Twente in 2007. Under this club Elia actually improved and bagged 11 goals in 64 appearances for the club. He also made his UEFA Champions League under this club and was named the Dutch Football Talent of the Year in 2009.
Elia then moved to Hamburger SV for a short period of 2009 to 2011 under a five year contract but because the club's team style didn't suit him he left in 2011. He however scored 7 goals for the club in 52 appearances.
Further in 2012, Elia before moving to Bremen he was signed to Juventus and after to Bremen where he scored 4 scores out of 66 appearances which is not a fairly decent performance by him. He was then loaned to Southampton for a short period of one year.
He presently is a part of the Turkish Club İstanbul Başakşehir for a three year contract which was signed in 2017.
Eijero has also played for the Netherlands national under-19 team and U21 teams. He played for the country in the 2010 World Cup, where he scored a goal against Scotland.
