Fouaad Mirza is an Indian Equestrian born on 6th March 1992. He hails from Bangalore, Karnataka. Fouaad Mirza is India’s No.1 Eventer.
Fouaad Mirza - Early Life , Family & Background
Fouaad Mirza belongs to the royal lineage from the state of Mysore. Mirza’s father Dr. Hasneyn Mirza is an equestrian veterinarian. Horses have always been part of Fouaad’s life.
Fouaad Mirza began to ride horses at the young age of 5. He would ride a horse after school and his passion for riding horses naturally grew. He looks up to Colonel Rajesh Pattu, a retired army officer. Col. Rajesh had given him cassettes of the international career of Sir Mark Wood and Mirza would watch it several times.
He had a competitive streak in horse riding when he was in school and as he grew older, he began to harness it into a sport which he was zealous about. Fouaad holds degrees in Psychology and Business from England.
Fouaad Mirza Biography
Fouaad Mirza’s career breakthrough came in 2018 when he won his 1st International medal by winning Gold in CIC2 held in Netherland. In that same year, he won a Silver medal in CCI1 held in Germany.
In 2019, Mirza won his 2nd international Gold medal at CCI3*-2 event held at Strzegom in Poland.
Fouaad Mirza Achievements
Fouaad Mirza 1st participated in the multi-sports event at the 2014 Asian Games held in Jakarta. He participated in both Individual eventing and team eventing. Mirza caught the limelight after he won a Silver medal in individual eventing at the 2018 Asain Games. With this, he became the 1st Indian Equestrian to win a medal at the Asian Games since 1982. He also won a Silver medal in team eventing.
In 2019, Fouaad Mirza was conferred with Arjuna Award by the Government of India.
In 2020, Fouaad Mirza booked the berth at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics after finishing 1st in South East Asia, Oceania qualifiers group. He will be the 1st Equestrian from India to participate in the Olympics since 2000. Only 2 Indian Equestrians had participated in the Olympics, Indrajit Lamba in 1996 and Imitiaz Anees in 200.
