Gallus

Gallus is a professional wrestling team consisting of Scottish professional wrestlers Wolfgang and brothers Joe Coffey and Mark Coffey. The trio performs in WWE where they are currently signed on the NXT brand.

Wolfgang

Wolfgang is a Scottish professional wrestler. His real name is Barry Young and he was born on December 3, 1986, in Glasgow, Scotland. A huge pro-wrestling enthusiast since a very young age, Young made his wrestling debut at the age of 19 on Insane Championship Wrestling. During his time there, he also went head-to-head with another Scottish sensation Drew McIntyre.

He spent the next decade on the independent circuit before the eyes of the WWE found his talent and signed him for NXT UK. There, he teamed up with Mark Coffey and won the NXT UK Tag Team Championship and NXT Tag Team Championship, as well. He was among the wrestlers who helped train Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson for his match against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins at WrestleMania XL Night One.

Joe Coffey

Joe Coffey is the leader of Gallus. His real name is Joseph Coffey and he was born on May 22, 1988, in Glasgow, Scotland. He was trained by wrestlers such as Killian Dain and Finn Balor. He made his professional debut in 2009 and joined Insane Championship Wrestling in 2011 where he wrestled for about seven years.

There, he won the ICW World Heavyweight Championship twice, the ICW Zero-G Championship, and the ICW Iron Man twice, and also won the Wrestler of the Year award twice. During the same time, he joined the What Culture Pro Wrestling in 2016. He joined WWE on the NXT UK brand in 2018 and moved to NXT in 2022 after the former brand was merged with the latter. Since then, he has been a member and the de facto leader of Gallus.

Mark Coffey

Mark Coffey is the younger brother of Joe Coffey. His full name is Mark Anthony Coffey and he was born on February 13, 1990, in Glasgow, Scotland. Just like his brother, he was trained by Killian Dain and Finn Balor. He joined Insance Championship Wrestling in 2012 and spent seven years there.

There, he won the ICW Zero-G Championship thrice and the ICW Tag Team Championship four times. He joined the WWE on NXT UK in 2018 and then became a member of the NXT roster in 2022. In WWE, he has won the NXT UK Heritage Cup, NXT UK Tag Team Championship and NXT Tag Team Championship.

NXT UK

The professional wrestling team Gallus, consisting of Wolfgang and the Coffey brothers (Mark and Joe Coffey), was officially formed during a segment on the December 5th episode of NXT UK. The name "Gallus" is Scottish slang for daring or confident. They made their debut as a team on the December 12th episode of NXT UK with a victory over Ashton Smith and Ligero in a tag match.

Gallus continued their success by capturing the NXT UK Tag Team Championship on October 4th, 2019, defeating Mark Andrews and Flash Morgan Webster. Their reign lasted an impressive 497 days.Following a brief hiatus, which coincided with a suspension for Joe Coffey, Gallus returned and individual accolades followed. Mark Coffey claimed the NXT UK Heritage Cup Championship on June 23rd, 2022, while Wolfgang fell short in his challenge for the NXT UK Championship against Ilja Dragunov on July 23rd, 2022.

NXT

Gallus' NXT run kicked off with a bang at NXT Heatwave where they set their sights on Diamond Mine with a surprise attack. Their official NXT tag team debut came on August 23rd, 2022 against the NXT UK Tag Team Champions, Brooks Jensen and Josh Briggs. While they secured a win via countout, they were later eliminated from the Fatal Four-Way Tag Team Elimination Match for the unified NXT and NXT UK Tag Team Championships at Worlds Collide. A rivalry ensued with Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen, with the latter team coming out on top in a No Disqualification Tag Team Match. Gallus' NXT run ultimately came to an end in September when they faced suspension for attacking officials.

Gallus' return from suspension was triumphant. In January 2023, they won a gauntlet match to become number one contenders for the NXT Tag Team Championship, which they captured at Vengeance Day. Their reign included successful title defenses against Pretty Deadly, The Creed Brothers, and The Family. They even overcame challenges from The Dyad and Malik Blade & Edris Enofe. However, their 176-day championship run ended at NXT: The Great American Bash when they fell to Tony D'Angelo and Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo.

After a hiatus, Gallus resurfaced in April 2024, reportedly training The Rock for his WrestleMania match. Their official NXT return came on the May 14th episode, where they attacked Wes Lee, Josh Briggs, and Ivar backstage, sending a strong message to the NXT roster.
