Hardik Singh: A Brief Biography
Hardik Singh is an Indian professional hockey player, born on 23 September 1998 in Punjab, India. He is a defender who has played domestic competitions and has also represented himself for the junior team of India.
Background
Hardik was into the sport of hockey as a child, in fact his family has a history into sports. Starting from his his father Varinderpreet Singh who was an International hockey player to his paternal uncle Jugraj Singh and aunt Rajbir Kaur who was Golden girl all have contributed towards sports in India.
Hardik is from Khursopur village, he played his first ever hockey tournament in Chandigarh. In his early days one of the first coaches to train and mentor young Hardik was P.S Rai.
Debut
Hardik made his his International debut for the senior team of India in the Hero Asian Champions Trophy 2018 held at Muscat in October.
Rise to Glory
After representing his village, Hardik improved his game and was on par with junior state and national level players. He participated in domestic tournaments like 4th Hockey India Sub Junior National Championship 2014 and won bronze medal.
The young Punjab hockey star was also included in many international tournaments like Under-18 Asia Cup 2016 where he won gold and the Euro Asia Cup 2016 also turned out to be a winner for Hardik. He was also able to snatch a gold medal in the Four Nation International Tournament in 2016.
Hardik has yet to prove himself in the senior Indian team of hockey. He was recently handed an opportunity to play for the senior team at the Hero Asian Champions Trophy 2018.
It is no doubt that he is a talented defender and will be a great addition to the already excellent Indian team. His performances in the Champions trophy has been good and helped Indian reach the finals and win the tournament.
