Johnny Curtis: A Brief Biography

Curtis Jonathan Hussey is an American professional wrestler best known for his work with WWE as Fandango. He is a former WWE NXT Tag Team Champion.

Professional Wrestling Career

Early Years (1999-2006)

In 1999, Hussey began training and performing as a professional wrestler on the independent circuit. Killer Kowalski trained Hussey and worked for various English promotions. He also wrestled for TNA, PLW, and Chaotic Wrestling.

WWE (2006-2021)

Early Years and NXT (2006-2012)

In 2006, Hussey signed with WWE and began wrestling for the development territories such as DSW and FCW for the next few years. During his time in the developmental territories, Hussey won the tag team titles with different partners. In 2011, it featured him in the fourth season of NXT and won. They changed his name to Johnny Curtis and gave him a tag team title match with R-Truth. However, the team lost and Curtis went back to NXT. Curtis failed to win the fifth season and spent the rest of the year teaming with Michael McGillicutty.

Fandango & Breezango (2013-2021)

In 2013, they repackaged Hussey as Fandango. The ballet dancer's gimmick worked in his favor and became a fan favorite. At WrestleMania XXIX, Fandango defeated Chris Jericho in his debut match. Fandango was managed by Summer Rae and went on a winning streak. However, he failed to capture the Intercontinental Championship and win the Money in the Bank ladder match. In 2016, Fandango was drafted to SmackDown and began teaming up with Tyler Breeze. The duo performed comedy sketches and were called Breezango. The duo spent the next few years working on RAW and SmackDown but failed to win the tag titles.

In 2020, Fandango returned to NXT after an elbow injury, which took him out for a year. The team reformed on NXT and began feuding with Imperium. At TakeOver XXX, Breezango became the number one contender for the NXT Tag Team Championship. In August, Breezango defeated Imperium to win the NXT Tag Team Championship. In October, they lost it to Lorcan and Burch. In 2021, they entered the Dusty Rhodes Classic and lost. Later, they were released from the company. After his release, he wrestled on the independent circuit as Dirty Dango.
