Josh Berry: A Brief Biography
Josh Berry is an American professional stock car racing driver who competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 4 Ford Mustang Dark Horse for Stewart-Haas Racing. Berry also competes part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 15 Ford Mustang for AM Racing.
Berry debuted in the NASCAR Xfinity Series at the Iowa Speedway in Newton, also called the U.S. Cellular 250 in 2014. He started 10th in the race and finished 12th, driving the No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro for JR Motorsports. Berry has won five times in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, securing 52 top 10s and four pole positions.
Berry made his NASCAR Cup Series debut in the Drydene 400 at Dover International Speedway in May 2021. He drove for Spire Motorsports, substituting for Justin Haley in the No. 77 car. While he has never won a single race in the NASCAR Cup Series, Berry has managed to bag seven top 10s in the competition.
Berry got signed by Stewart-Haas Racing and replaced Kevin Harvick on June 21, 2023. Although Stewart-Haas Racing announced on May 28, 2024, that it would shut down its NASCAR operations at the end of this season, Berry has already signed a multi-year deal with Wood Brothers Racing on July 3, 2024, to drive the No. 21 car. In the Xfinity Series, Berry signed to drive the No. 15 for AM Racing at Pocono.
Josh Berry’s Early Life
Berry was born on October 22, 1990, in Hendersonville, Tennessee. At eight, he began his racing career and competed in the Tennessee Karting Association before moving on to the more challenging and renowned World Karting Association in 2001. Berry then progressed to the U.S. Legend cars in 2006, and for three years, Berry bagged 21 feature wins and championships at Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville.
In 2010, Dale Earnhardt Jr. signed Berry to his JR Motorsports team to compete in late-model racing. In only a year, Berry was named the Late Model Most Popular Driver by Speed51.com. In 2014, Berry’s career turned professional when he debuted in the Xfinity Series that happened at the Iowa Speedway, driving the No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro for JR Motorsports. Berry started 10th in the race and finished 12th.

Berry was signed by Stewart-Haas Racing for a two-year contract to replace the then-retiring Kevin Harvick. But SHR has now announced that it would shut down its NASCAR operations at the end of 2024, making Berry a free agent.
