Manuel Lanzarote: A Brief Biography
Manuel Lanzarote Bruno is a Spanish footballer who plays as a winger and sometimes in the central mid-field in an attacking role.
He was born on 20 January, 1984 in Barcelona, Spain and represented FC Barcelona at the youth level and was also a part of their reserve team.
He currently plays for FC Goa in the Indian Super League.
Background
Lanzarote started training with the Sant Gabriel at the age of 10 and then joined the FC Barcelona a year later.
The time he spent at Barcelona shaped him into the player he is today.
He is quite flexible in the playing roles and can be an effective winger on both sides along with a secondary striker and attacking midfielder. Right Wing position has suited him the best in his career.
Debut
Lanzarote made his senior debut for Barcelona and played for the club for three years. He made a total of 51 appearances for C and B teams of Barcelona and scored 12 goals.
He moved to UE Lleida in 2005 but was rarely used.
He was then loaned to Atlético Madrid B in January 2006 and eventually joined Real Oviedo the next year. He could not really settle with Oveido and moved to UE Sant Andreu.
He made 1 appearance for Sant Andreu in the second round of Copa del Rey against Real Union Club and scored a solitary goal.
Rise to glory
After his stint with Sant Andreu, Lanzarote did not play in the 2009-2010 season. In 2011, he signed with CE Sabadell FC in second division. He made 36 appearances for them in La Liga 2 and scored 9 times.
In the next season for Sabadell he netted 14 times along with 12 assists in the 35 appearances in the La Liga 2. In 2013, he agreed on a deal with RCD Espanyol and scored 1 goal in a total of 21 appearances in La Liga and Copa del Rey in the 2013-14 season.
He was sparingly used in the next season and was eventually loaned over to Deportivo Alaves in the second division.
Club Career
He decided to cut ties with Espanyol and moved outside to Asteras Tripoli FC in Greece. He played in the Europa League and Super League making a total of 15 appearances while assisting once.
Within a span of 6 months he moved away from Tripoli and signed a six-month deal with Real Zaragoza. He made 52 appearances for Zaragoza and scored a total of 11 goals along with 12 assists.
His latest signing has been with the FC Goa in the Indian Super League for which he has made 11 appearances and netted 8 times along with 4 assists.
