Marco Bizot: A Brief Biography
Marco Bizot is a Dutch professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper in the Netherland junior national teams at different age levels and is currently a part of their senior squad. He has played for the clubs like AFC Ajax, SC Cambuur, FC Groningen and Racing Genk in the Dutch Eerste Divisie and Eredivisie during the course of his career.
He is currently associated to one of the prestigious clubs of the country, AZ Alkmaar.
Background
Bizot was born on 10 March 1991 in Hoorn, province of North Holland in Netherland. He began his youth career at the age of 9 by playing for a local club SV Westfriezen. Few months later he switched to the youth setup of Ajax and played for them for about a decade.
Senior career
In 2011, Bizot made his professional debut by playing for Jong Ajax - a reserve team of the core team of the club. His quick and sharp goalkeeping skills earned him a lot of appreciation in his debut season. As a reward, Bizot received a contract extension, and was loaned to SC Cambuur for the 2011–12 season. He made 17 appearances for them in the Eerste Divisie.
In 2012, Bizot was signed by FC Groningen after an agreement of direct transfer from Ajax. During his tenure of 2 seasons, Bizot evolved as an dependable goalkeeper for the club in the 50 games that he played.
In 2014, Bizot was sold to the Belgium based club, Racing Genk, for a 3 year contract. He made 59 appearances for the club and was a part of 26 victory games.
In 2017, he was signed by AZ Alkmaar to play in the Eredivisie. He made played 29 games for AZ.
Rise to glory
He broke the headlines in the season 2015-16, when he was the part of Genk in their 14 wins off 26 matches. He impressed again in 2017-18, as he was instrumental for AZ Alkmaar in their 19 wins and 5 draws off 29 matches.
International career
In 2011, Bizot made his debut in the Dutch national junior team in a qualifying match against Young Austria for the European Championship in Israel. He played 7 international matches for the junior team and earned his first senior international selection in March 2018.
