Martin Paterson Biography
Martin Andrew Paterson was born on 10 May 1987 in Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent, England. He is a professional football player. He plays as a forward for Indian Super League side ATK.
Background
He began his career with Stoke City team but not as a main player. He debuted with the team in April 2005.
Club career
Paterson started with the Stoke City academy. On 16 April 2005 he made his first team debut in a 2–0 win over Plymouth Argyle in a Championship game at the Britannia Stadium. His first goal for the club came on 12 September 2006 in a 1–1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough Stadium.
He joined Grimsby Town for League Two league initially on a one-month loan. He played six games for Grimsby and finally departed by the summer.
Paterson was signed by Scunthorpe United In July 2007. He scored four goals in his first five games in the very beginning of 2007–08 season. He ended with 14 goals in 42 appearances.
Paterson agreed a four-year contract with Burnley in June 2008 in a £1 million deal. Here he made 19 goals in 57 appearances during the 2008–09 season.
On 21 February, he scored his first Premier League goal. It was a 5–2 defeat to Aston Villa at Villa Park.
He ended the 2013–14 season with just one goal in eight games for Bristol City, and six goals in 26 games for Huddersfield town.
Paterson joined Orlando City On 26 January 2015 on a five-month loan deal. But he made only a combined total of 53 minutes playing time in four matches for Orlando due to a string of injuries.
In September 2015 Paterson joined League One side Blackpool. He started in two games and made 17 substitute appearances in the 2015–16 season. But he went scoring no goal.
In August 2016 League One club Port Vale signed Paterson. on 30th August, he made his first start for them, in a 1–0 triumphant match over Derby County U23 in the EFL Trophy match. But he scored his first goal in the 30th month in a 2–1 defeat to Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Stadium.
on 15 March 2017, Paterson signed a contract with the Tampa Bay Rowdies of the United Soccer League.
Paterson joined ATK of the Indian Super League On 17 January 2018 after being signed by head coach Teddy Sheringham. on 25 January Paterson scored at debut in a 2–1 defeat to Chennaiyin FC at the Salt Lake Stadium.
Debut
On 17 November 2007 Paterson made his senior team debut for Northern Ireland as a 72nd-minute substitute for Warren Feeney in a 1–0 loss to Spain in a UEFA Euro 2008 qualifying match.
On 20 August 2008 he made his first start for Northern Ireland, in a 0–0 draw with Scotland.
