Miiko Albornoz: A Brief Biography
Miiko Albornoz is a professional football player of Swedish origin. Although he is Swedish-born, he plays for the Chilean National team. He was born on 30 November 1990 in Stockholm, Sweden.
He plays at the left back position for the team.
Background
Miiko’s full name is Miiko Martin Albornoz Inola. He started playing football when he was just four years of age. He began playing for IF Brommapojkarna. He made his way through a number of youth teams.
He began his professional senior career for the same team in 2007. Miiko’s father is Chilean and his mother is Finnish.
He played in all the youth categories for Sweden, but rejected the call to play friendly matches in Middle East and decided to wait to be called to play for Chile.
Debut
Miiko made his debut for IF Brommapojkarna in 2008 at Superttan, which is the second tier of the Swedish football league system.
He made his international debut for Chile in a match against Costa Rica on January 22, 2014. He made his debut for the club Malmo FF in a match against GAIS in ALlsvenskan on 20 August 2011.
Rise to glory
Because of his performances, Miiko signed a four-year contract with the Swedish champions Malmo FF. After a few matches, he became a regular in the team and started performing well.
On 2 July in the 2012 season, he got his first Man of the Match award for the club in a match against AIK. He scored a goal in his very debut at the international level in a 4-0 victory. He was also include in the provisional 30-man squad for World Cup and eventually made it to the 23-man squad that played in the Brazil World Cup.
Club Career
Miiko started his club career in 2007 with IF Brommapojkarna and stayed with the club till 2011. He then signed a four-year contract with Malmo FF and played for them till 2014. After this, he got transferred to the German Bundesliga club Hannover and currently plays for them.
