Mike Malott made his professional MMA debut on April 16, 2011, at Extreme Cage Combat 12. He fought against James Saunders and won the bout via an armbar submission.
Malott fought for many small promotions before he earned an opportunity to fight at Bellator 142 against Ousmane Thomas Diagne. The fight was declared a majority draw.
On October 5, 2021, Malott fought in Dana White's Contender Series against Shimon Smotritsky. He won the contest via a Guillotine Choke submission,n and this victory helped him earn his UFC contract.
