Mike Romero's Early Life
San Diego, California, USA is the birthplace and hometown of Mike Romero. He grew up watching the Rock 'n Wrestling era of the WWE and built an interest in pro wrestling. Romero was a huge fan of The Ultimate Warrior and was overwhelmed after watching the Undertaker in his debut at Survivor Series in 1990.
Mike Romero’s Professional Career
NXT and RAW(2016–2019)
Romero started his professional career at Nickelodeon TV channel as a tour host and for Walt Disney World and Universal Studios as a cast. He signed with WWE in May 2016 and started filling in as a ring announcer for the NXT brand. The ring announcer of the Cruiserweight Classic made his debut in NXT in September 2016. He made his main roster debut on RAW the next year and was seen in an interview with Nia Jax. After making many appearances in RAW and NXT, Romero became a part of the main roster after NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 4. Rome was often been used for storylines and depicted as a delusional individual alongside Alexa Bliss.
RAW (2019–2023)
Mike Rome became the main RAW ring announcer In January 2019 in place of JoJo (Bray Wyatt's wife), who held the position previously. He won the only title of his career, the WWE 24/7 Title In December that year. Samir Singh initially won the championship from R-Truth and asked Romero to declare his name as the winner. Romero pinned him instead and won the title and lost the title to Singh after nine seconds. After Greg Hamilton's release from the company, Romero worked on both the WWE flagship shows until January 14, 2022.
SmackDown (2023–2024)
Rome became the new ring announcer for SmackDown after the 2023 WWE draft. He announced in premium live shows like Elimination Chamber: Perth in 2024. After serving as the weekly announcer on SmackDown he made his final appearance on the show in April 2024.
NXT and Main Roster (2024–present)
Rome announced his NXT return in May 2024 via social media. He replaced NXT's previous ring announcer Alicia Taylor. He made appearances during a SmackDown show in Saudi Arabia and King and Queen of the Ring 2024.
