Early Life and Career
Bukauskas, who has won the British Kickboxing Championship four times, has a 10-2 record in the UK MMA scene, primarily fighting for the Cage Warriors promotion. He earned the Cage Warriors Light Heavyweight title by defeating Marthin Hamlet, a seven-time Norwegian wrestling champion, via knockout in the fourth round at Cage Warriors 106. He successfully defended his championship at Cage Warriors 111 against Riccardo Nosiglia by knocking him out with elbow strikes to the head after Nosiglia attempted a takedown.
Modestas Bukauskas’s Career in UFC
Bukauskas was set to fight Vinicius Moreira at UFC on ESPN: Kattar vs. Ige on July 16, 2020, but Moreira was withdrawn from the event after testing positive for COVID-19. He was replaced by Andreas Michailidis and Bukauskas won his UFC debut via TKO, becoming the first Lithuanian to win in the UFC and earning the Performance of the Night award. However, he lost his next fight against Jimmy Crute via knockout in round one. Bukauskas also lost his next two fights against Michał Oleksiejczuk via split decision and against Khalil Rountree Jr. via technical knockout in round two due to an injury. On October 20, 2021, it was announced that Bukauskas was no longer part of the UFC roster.
Bukauskas then went on to fight two more times under the Cage Warriors promotion and is set to make his UFC return at UFC 284 against Tyson Pedro on February 12, 2023.
