Nicolás Castillo: A Brief Biography
Nicolás Ignacio Castillo Mora is a Chilean professional football player. He was born on 14 February 1993 in Santiago, Chile. He mainly plays the role of a striker and is currently playing for Mexican club UNAM.
Background
Castillo began his career at Universidad Católica's supporter groups in 2005 at the age of twelve. After playing there for six years, he joined Universidad Católica’s senior squad on April 1, 2011.
Debut
Castillo made his senior debut for the national team with the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification (CONMEBOL) match held on 23 March 2013 as a 70th minute substitute and which was a 1–0 loss against Peru.
After that he was on the bench for the match against Uruguay. He debuted for Chile U20 on 23 June, 2013 for the FIFA U-20 World Cup match against Egypt U20. He scored the opening goal in the 2:1 win of his team.
Rise to glory
Castillo scored the opening goal for his team in the FIFA U-20 World Cup group E match held at Akdeniz Üniversity Stadium, Turkey on 23 June, 2013; where in he was making his debut. He made four goals in the tournament, which made him the highest goal scorer from the Chile side.
Club career
He started with the Universidad Católica in 2005 and moved to its senior squad on April 1, 2011. On Jan 27, 2014 he moved to Club Brugge for a transfer fee of £2.70 million and spent two years in the club. He scored ten goals for Club Brugge in the thirty appearances he made for it.
On January 28, 2015, he was then loaned to FSV Mainz 05 for a fee of £198k on January 28, 2015 and made no goals in one appearance he made for it. On June 30, 2015, he returned to Club Brugge.
On August 31, 2015 he was then loaned to Frosinone for an undisclosed amount and made no goals in all of the six appearances he made for it. On January 5, 2016, he returned to Club Brugge.
On January 6, 2016 he was then loaned to his old club Universidad Católica for an undisclosed amount On June 30, 2016, he returned to Club Brugge. On August 5, 2016 he was again loaned to his old club Universidad Católica for an undisclosed amount and made 24 goals in 23 appearances he made for it. He made 24 goals in 23 appearances he made for it.On December 31, 2016, he returned to Club Brugge.
On Jan 1, 2017, he was transferred to Pumas UNAM for a transfer fee of £3.42 million and went on to score 19 goals in the 30 matches he played for them.

He was nominated in the 2016 Copa América squad and was part of the Chilean win where he converted the 3rd spot kick.
