Nurislam Sanayev: A Brief Biography
Nurislam Sanayev is a Russian-Kazhastani wrestler born on 9th February 1991. He was born in Tuva Republic, Russia, and later moved to Kazakhstan, where he currently resides. Nurislam is a Freestyle specialist and represents Kazakhstan in the 57kg Freestyle Category.
Nurislam won his first international medal by bagging Bronze in the 57 kg Freestyle at the 2017 Asian Wrestling Championships. The following year, he was crowned as Asian wrestling champion in the 61 kg category.
At the World Wrestling Championships, Nurislam Sanayev took home a Silver medal (2018) and a Bronze (2018) in the 57 kg Freestyle category. He made his Olympics debut at the 2016 Rio Olympics but was knocked out by Haji Aliyev of Azerbaijan in the repechage round.
In March 2021, Nurislam Sanayev clinched the Gold medal in the 57 kg Freestyle event at the Matteo Pellicone Rome Ranking Series. He will be competing for Kazakhstan in the 57 kg category at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
