Raevyn Rogers: A Brief Biography
Raevyn Rogers is an American track and field athlete born on 7th September 1996. She is a native of Houston in Texas, United States. Raevyn is a middle-distance specialist and represents the USA internationally in 800m.
Background:
Raevyn Rogers was born and brought up in Houston city in Texas. Her mother is a former track and field athlete and was the first female sprinter to run an athletic venue in Houston.
Raevyn aspired to be an athlete at a young age. She attended the Kinkaid High School in her hometown, where her athletics career began. She had competed for high school team Falcons and won titles in 200m, 400m, 800m, 1600m Sprints, 4x200m, 4x400m, 4x800 Relays at the SPC Championships. In 2012, Raevyn won the 800m title at the High School Indoor Nationals.
In 2014, after graduating from Kinkaid High School, Raevyn joined the University of Oregon, where she became a member of Oregon Ducks. She had represented them at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships and USA Track and Field Championships (2016-2018).
In 2018, Raevyn Rogers graduated with a degree in Spanish from the University of Oregon.
Rise to Glory:
Raevyn Rogers got her first career break in 2009 after she won two titles in 400m and 800m at the US National U15 Championships. In 2010, she took home the 400m title at the USATF Junior National Championships. The following year, Raevyn clinched the 800m junior national title.
In 2015, Raevyn made her NCAA debut while representing the Oregon Ducks and won the 800m title at the NCAA Division 1 Outdoor Championships. That year, in August, she won a Gold medal double in 800m and 4x400m Relay at the Pan American Junior Athletics Championships. In 2016, Raevyn won her first NCAA indoor title in 800m at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
At the junior level, Raevyn had won seven national championship titles between 2009 and 2015. She made her first senior national appearance at the 2016 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Two years later, in 2018, Raeyvn made it to the senior national podium for the first time with a Silver medal in 800m.
Raevyn Rogers is the current World No.2 Women 800m Sprinter with 1360 points behind her compatriot Ajee Wilson. She holds a national record alongside the US relay team for the 4x400m Relay.
Major Achievements:
Raevyn Rogers received her first international break at the 2013 World Youth Athletics Championships, where she won the Sprint Medley Relay title and a Bronze medal in 800m-dash. In 2014, she competed at the World Junior Athletics Championships and was placed 22nd in 800m Heats.
In 2018, Raevyn made her international debut as a professional athlete at the World Indoor Athletics Championships, where she helped the US relay team to clinch the 4x400m title, while she finished 5th in 800m-dash. That year, in July, Raevyn clinched the 800m title at the Athletics World Cup. At the 2019 World Athletics Championships, she won the Silver medal in 800m by clocking 1:58.18s.
Raevyn Rogers will look to qualify for her debut Olympics at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics via U.S Olympic Trials and shall be in contention to medal in 800m-dash.
