Rafiel Torre: A Brief Biography
Rafiel Torre, real name Ralph Bartel was an MMA fighter during the days in which Mixed Martial Arts was an underground sport without decent coverage. According to Bartel’s claims he had a 14-0 undefeated streak, but there is no proof of this. In actuality, it was discovered that Rafiel Torre was a Fake BJJ Black Belt and on top of that a convicted murderer.

The story of Rafiel Torre is one of lies and deception. During the underground era of Mixed Martial Arts, and it was not difficult for him to lie about his qualifications due to the unknown and unrecorded era of fighting at the time.
During this time, he made up stories about his abilities and claimed that he had a 14-0 fight record. He did not have proof, but people believed his claims. During this time, he also claimed that he was an ex-Navy Seal and he had trained in BJJ from a very young age.
This saw some media attention, and he was invited by Arab Sheik Tahnoon Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the Abu Dhabi Combat Club. Here he took part in an exhibition, where he lost in less than a minute after submitting.
He fought Ioko Tiannu inn 2001 and settled their apparent unresolved conflict under King of the Cage promotion. Torre won the fight.
Unfortunately, the win saw his credibility take a dive as it appeared that he had paid his opponent to lose to him. It was revealed his real name was actually Ralph Bartel.
Soon after Rafiel Torre met Angelina Richards and the two of them fell in love. The two of them conspired to kill Angelina’s husband Bryan Richards and to collect the insurance money. He paid Gerald Strebendt to do it, but he turned down the offer. Instead, Torre choked Bryan to death using a rear naked choke. He claimed it was self defence as the Bryan had a gun pointed at him, but instead he was convicted to life in prison after Gerald Strebendt turned witness against him.
