Early Life and Career
During his teenage years in Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil, Ricardo Lucas Ramos frequently found himself in fights, leading his father to enroll him in Brazilian jiu-jitsu classes. However, Ramos was eventually kicked out of his home at age 14. He then spent most of his time at a mixed martial arts gym until he turned 21. In 2012, Ramos began his professional MMA career in Brazil, where he won all 6 of his fights in the first two years.
He later fought in North America for Legacy FC and Legacy Fighting Alliance before joining the UFC. Before joining the UFC, Ramos had a record of 9 wins and 1 loss, with most of his victories ending in stoppages. Ramos gained a UFC contract by submitting Alfred Khashakyan in an episode of Dana White's Lookin' for a Fight reality show.
Ricardo Ramos’ Career in UFC
Ricardo Lucas Ramos made his UFC debut in February 2017, winning his first fight against Michinori Tanaka via unanimous decision. He went on to win his next two fights, including a Performance of the Night bonus for his third-round knockout victory over Aiemann Zahabi at UFC 217.
Ramos then won a split decision against Kang Kyung-ho at UFC 227 but was forced to withdraw from a scheduled fight against Ricky Simon due to a hand injury. He returned to the octagon in February 2019 but suffered a first-round TKO loss to Said Nurmagomedov at UFC Fight Night 144.
Ramos won his next fight against Journey Newson via unanimous decision in June 2019 and earned a Performance of the Night bonus for his rear-naked choke submission victory over Luiz Eduardo Garagorri in November 2019. He suffered a first-round TKO loss to Lerone Murphy in July 2020 but rebounded with a unanimous decision victory over Bill Algeo in April 2021.
Ramos lost his next fight against Zubaira Tukhugov via unanimous decision in October 2021 but earned his third Performance of the Night award for his first-round knockout victory over Danny Chavez at UFC on ESPN: Kattar vs. Emmett in June 2022. Ramos was scheduled to face Danny Henry at UFC Fight Night 209 in September 2022, but the bout was canceled due to Henry's withdrawal for unknown reasons.
