Roman Vlasov: A Brief Biography
Roman Vlasov is a Russian wrestler born on 6th October 1990. He hails from Novosibirsk city in Russia. Roman is a Greco-Roman wrestling specialist and represents Russia in the 77 kg category.
Roman Vlasov received his first international break in 2011 when he won the Bronze medal in the 74 kg category at the European Wrestling Championships. That year, he took home the Bronze medal in the 74 kg at the Wrestling World Cup. In September, he broke into the limelight after he was crowned as World Champion in the Greco-Roman 74 kg category at the World Wrestling Championships.
In 2012, Roman won the Gold medal in the 74 kg category at the European Wrestling Championships. He would go on to win three European titles in 2013, 2018, and 2019. At the 2012 London Olympics, Roman emerged as Olympic Champion in the 74 kg Greco-Roman category. The following year, he won the Gold medal in the 74 kg category at the Summer Universiade, followed by a Silver medal at the World Championships.
Between 2013 and 2017, at the Wrestling World Cup, Roman Vlasov won the Gold medal (2017), two Silver medals (2014 and 2015), and a Bronze (2013). In 2015, he won his second World Championships title in the 75 kg category. The following year, Roman defended his Olympic title in the 75 kg Greco-Roman category at the Rio Olympics.
Roman Vlasov hasn’t yet qualified for his third Olympics at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
