Ryan Taylor Biography

Known for his excellent free-kick taking and dead ball skills, Ryan Anthony Taylor is an professional English footballer was born on 19th August 1984 in Liverpool, England.

He plays for ATK in the Indian Super League as a full-back or across the mid-field.

Background

In 2002, Taylor began his career at Tranmere Rovers and made 122 league and cup appearances in three full seasons with the club.

He was sold to Premier League club Wigan Athletic in July 2005 for a fee of £750,000. In May 2015, he was released by Newcastle and he made only occasional cameo appearances in the 2015–16 campaign at Hull City.

He signed with Port Vale in October 2016 and again in March 2017. He signed with Indian Super League club ATK in December 2017.

Debut

Taylor made his debut for the England under-21 team and scored the winning goal in a 2–1 defeat to Austria in a 2006 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualification match at Elland Road on 7 October 2005.

Unfortunately, surrounded by injuries, he could not continue is international career for long and he played his last match just a year after making debut. He just appeared for 5 matches without scoring a goal.

Rise to Glory

He started his career with Tranmere Rovers in the year 2002 and that was the turning point in his career as his performance caught everyone's attention and eventually he was selected for the England under - 21 national football team.

But due to injuries, he couldn't perform well in international career.

Low Points

He was surrounded with injuries throughout his career. However he then faced a catalogue of injuries, firstly fracturing a metatarsal and then breaking a leg in the 2010–11 season, and then picking up a serious cruciate knee ligament injury in August 2012.

Club career

Taylor came through the Tranmere Rovers youth-team to the senior team and managed to score 19 goals in 122 appearances.

In 2005, he signed a four-year contract with Wigan Athletic for £750,000 where he score just 7 goals in 63 matches.

In February 2009, Taylor was traded to Newcastle and signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with Newcastle. In 106 appearances, he scored 10 goals for Newcastle. In 2015, after moving to Hull city, he couldn't score a goal in his 5 appearances. However, he managed to score 5 goals in 25 matches he appeared for Port Vale.

He currently plays for ATK in the Indian Super League and have made 5 appearances without scoring a goal.

Records

In the 2004-05 season, Taylor was honored with Tranmere Player of the year award and in the same year, he was awarded PFA team of the year.

He has scored 41 goals in 333 appearances in his club career. He was awarded with Football League Championship award when he was with Newcastle United in the year 2009-10.
