Seema Bisla is an Indian woman wrestler born on 14th April 1993. She hails from the Gudhan village of Rohtak district in Haryana. Seema specializes in Freestyle wrestling and represents India internationally in the 50 kg category.
Seema Bisla - Early Life, Family & Background
Seema Bisla comes from a family of wrestlers. Her father and uncle were wrestlers and competed in the state and national levels. Seema began to pursue a career in wrestling with encouragement from her father.
Seema got her career breakthrough when she became the national champion in her weight category in 2017. The following year, she made her international debut at the World Wrestling Championships in Budapest, Hungary, but was knocked out in the first round of the 55kg women’s freestyle category.
Seema Bisla Achievements
In 2019, Seema competed at the World Wrestling Championships but was eliminated from the tournament after losing in the repechage round. In April 2021, she participated in the Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament in Almaty, Kazakhstan with the hope to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics 2020 but didn't.
Seema Bisla booked her Olympic berth at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 after winning her first international medal by taking home bronze in the 50 kg category at the 2021 Asian Wrestling Championships in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
