Will Power’s Early Life & Career
Will Power started his journey as a racer in Australia driving a Datsun 1200 at Morgan Park Raceway, Warwick, and Carnell Raceway, Stanthorpe. He also drove a Swift SC92F in Queensland in a Formula Ford Championship. Power switched to Formula Holden after three years of racing in Formula Ford. He won the 2002 Australian Drivers Championship in the series with seven wins and three pole positions, claiming the title over his fellow championship contender by over 50 points.
He moved to Europe in 2003 to race in the British Formula 3 championship. He also got a chance to test a Minardi Formula 1 car in 2004. He was among the featured drivers for the Australian team in the World Series Renault Championship in 2005. He piloted the team to a second-place finish in the 2005–06 A1 Grand Prix season. He won the Rookie of the Year award in 2006 driving for Team Australia in the Champ Car series.
He debuted in the IndyCar series with Team Penske as a part-time replacement for Hélio Castroneves.
