William Gallas: A Brief Biography
William Eric Gallas is a French footballer who currently plays defender for Tottenham Hotspur. Though Gallas initially played for a number of French clubs, it was his transfer to Chelsea in 2001 that jumpstarted his carrer. Gallas was bought from Marseille for a sum of £6.2 million by then Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri. Gallas was now part of a team that won back-to-back Premier League titles and a League Cup under Ranieri\'s successor José Mourinho. Gallas scored some vital goals and helped Chelsea keep up their track record and retain their title in the 2005-06 football season. In the September of 2006, Gallas transferred to Arsenal as part of a deal that brought Ashley Cole to Chelsea and signed a four year contract with the club. His crowning glory while at Arsenal came in the form of his appointment as the Captain. Gallas proved especially prolific in the Champions League by scoring 6 goals in Arsenal\'s campaign. In August 2010 Gallas signed a one year contract with Tottenham Hotspur. After performing remarkably well in the first season, Gallas was rewarded with a two year contract extension in March 2011.
