Introduced in Generation I, Pidgeotto was one of the first if not the first major evolutionary Pokemon that many players found by themselves. That’s because their lineage Pidgey is an easy one for beginners to catch and as they evolve, they have a big role to play on the battlefield. Furthemore, their power only grows as they achieve their final form.

Appearance
Pidgeotto closely resembles normal birds that we find all around with subtle differences that differentiate Pidgeotto as a Pokemon. Pidgeotto have distinctive red feathers along it’s forehead and tail with yellow stripes across its tail and cream body. They also have a unique black marking that goes from their eye down their head.
Behavior
Pidgeotto are extremely territorial Pokemon and their claim to land can sometimes be up to sixty miles wide. Paired with their great eyesight and flying abilities, they can see any and all intruders in their land and they will deal with them without any mercy. Pidgeottos are also surprisingly strong with them capable of carrying prey, much larger than itself, back to its nest at the center of their claimed territory.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Being a Normal/Flying type, Pidgeotto is more of a situational Pokemon in this state of its evolution. It’s strong against Bug, Fighting and Grass types and can easily defend itself against attacks from the same. Electric, Ice and Rock types can knock it out easily but Pidgeotto’s saving grace is it’s high speed stat which makes it almost always able to deal the first hit when a turn starts. Still, it is recommended to evolve Pidgeotto to a Pidgeot if you want to take this Pokemon to serious battles.
Shiny Pidgeotto
There is a clear difference between a Shiny Pidgeotto and the normal Pidgeotto. Shiny Pidgeotto is bright green and yellow which clearly showcases that this is shiny. Finding a Shiny Pidgeotto for yourself is fairly easy enough, as there are plenty of Pidgey to encounter and evolve. Like all shiny Pokemon, Shiny Pidgeotto gains a starry animation upon entering battle.
How to catch Pidgeotto in Pokemon Go?
Much like in the game series, a Pidgeotto is easy to find in Pokemon Go. It’s predecessor, Pidgey, is commonplace and it should take less than a day’s effort to catch, collect candy and evolve Pidgey to Pidgeotto.
