Obtaining a rod skin in the game is based on RNG. Meaning you might get a skin for your favorite fishing rod if you're lucky. Now, if you wish to test your luck and purchase a rod skin, talk to a new NPC called Skin Merchant. These NPCs can be found on almost every island in the game. Below is a list of locations where you can find them:

• Moosewood Island
• Forsaken Shores
• The Depths
• Desolate Deep
• Ancient Isles
• Roslit Bay
• Mushgrove Swamp
• Snowcap Island

These Skin Merchants sell different crates that can be purchased with in-game cash. Once you purchase a crate, it will be added to your inventory. To open it, simply bring up your inventory and click on the crate. Next, click anywhere on the screen to open the box and get your skin.
