Anime Vanguards: A beginner's guide

Anime Vanguards is the latest Tower Defense title on Roblox and has already gained a massive following. This is mostly thanks to the beautiful game design along with the well-executed features and gameplay. While the basic building blocks of the game are the same as most other anime tower defense titles, there are several things that it does slightly differently.

Hence, this article will offer a simple beginner's guide to the various features of the game and how to get started.

Getting your first unit

Unlike most other tower defense games on the platform, this title doesn't offer you free gems to roll and obtain units. Instead, it offers you three options and lets you pick your first starter unit in the game. You have to pick from Ichigo, Luffy, and Naruto. Note that all three units are of the Rare rarity and have decent damage and other stats.

Afterward, your goal is to get the Gems and start rolling to obtain some better units. This can be done via the Summon portal in the game where you can spend 50 Gems per roll. You also have the Legendary and Mythic Pity bars which fill up with each summon. Once the bars are full, you can pull a unit of that rarity.

Start collecting Gems

The next obstacle you will face is collecting gems. This is quite crucial since the Gems will let you roll for better units and you must have a lot to get lucky and obtain your desired character. The easiest way to start is by interacting with each NPC you can find in the lobby.

This includes Kakshi and others who offer rewards. Talking to them will give you around 15 Gems each. Apart from this, you should click on each icon on your screen and check out the various features and gameplay mechanics. This will give you bonus Gems as well. Make sure to complete quests to get more Gems in the game.

The best way to accrue a lot of Gems is via the Story Mode. Go to the Story portal and enter the available map once you have decent units in your deck. Completing the acts will reward you with Gems and other items that will come in handy.

Focus on the Story Mode, upgrade your units, and evolve them

The next step is to focus on the Story Mode to earn as many Gems as possible. This will let you obtain better units and clear out the story mode chapter easily. However, you should also keep upgrading your units. While they automatically receive experience when you use them in battles, there is a second way to do so.

Completing the Story Mode chapters will give you additional rewards like the Senzu Bean. This item lets you upgrade your units and gain more experience to level up. There are some particular units that can be evolved.

This process unleashes their full potential and gives them more damage. This step will be quite helpful in the later stages of the game. You can evolve your units in the Evolve section of the lobby.

Complete challenges and be prepared for Raids

The next best thing to do once you have good units is to focus on completing the Challenges. These slightly difficult missions offer great rewards. However, newbies might find the Challenges daunting due to their difficulty.

Hence, they should first grind through the Story Mode and then step over to this section. While the Raids haven't been implemented as of yet, players still have plenty of time to get prepared. This is because the Raids will most definitely be the hardest challenge in the game and will require the best units and strategies.
