How to turn on voice chat in Roblox

Roblox allows players to communicate with each other using various means. While text messages are the most common way to do so, some players prefer to use the voice chat. However, it can be confusing to enable this feature since the platform doesn't have it turned on by default for various reasons. This can be challenging, especially for new players, who don't know how to navigate around the app.

Hence, this article will offer a step-by-step guide on enabling voice chat when playing games on the platform.

There are some crucial steps every player must complete before they can enable the voice chat feature on the platform. First and foremost, you must be at least 13+ years of age to use voice chat. You can let the platform know this using the age verification procedure. To do so, follow these steps:

Open the application on your web browser.
Click on the gear icon on the top-right side of the screen.
Click on the Settings option.
In the "Account Info" tab, look for the "Personal" category.
Here, you can click on the "Verify My Age" option and follow the steps as prompted.

Apart from this, you can also add and verify your phone number and email ID in the same "Account Info" tab. This will also unlock the voice chat feature. However, you must wait around a week for the confirmation as the verification process takes some time.

Once you are verified, simply follow these instructions to enable voice chat:

Open the app and go to "Settings".
Head over to the "Privacy" tab.
Ensure that the "Account Restrictions are disabled" option is disabled.
Under the "Communication" tab, ensure it is set to either "Default" or "Custom".
In the "Who can message me?" tab, ensure it is set to at least "Friends" and not to "No One".
In the "Privacy" tab, look for the "Microphone and Camera Input" option.
Simply enable it to start using voice chat.

How to mute somebody when using voice chat

It is quite possible that you might encounter trolls and toxic players when using voice chat in various games. Fortunately, the platform allows you to mute such players very easily. Below, we will tell you how to do so.

Click on the speaker icon that appears over their avatar.
If this doesn't work, then first, open the Roblox menu.
Look for the player's name and click on the speaker icon next to their name.
You can click on the icon again to unmute the player.

Note that this will only mute that player's voice and not the text chat. Also, the mute only lasts till you are in that specific experience. Exiting will remove the mute and you must re-enable it manually if you rejoin the experience and wish to mute the player again.
