Prototype is a graphically mesmerizing Roblox game developed for the RDC 2024 event, also known as the Roblox Developers Conference, which will be hosted in September 2024. This game was previously known as WIP but was later renamed Prototype. It is still in its early stages and is available to Robloxians to test and experience the new features and additions.
Since there isn't an in-game tutorial or an objective, it can be a bit confusing for beginners to get started. This guide acts as a compass for newbies and aims to clear everything up by simplifying all aspects of the title and therefore making it easier for them to understand.
Prototype: Everything you need to know
Understanding the basics
Once the players load into the game, they will be teleported into a visually mesmerizing world where the developer speaks to the players directly via prompts that are shown on top of their game screens. in the beginning, the game developer asks the player to move around and see if there are any bugs. Funnily, the movement controls are reversed, and the developer fixes that bug in a jiffy.
Afterward, the player is then teleported to another island and is asked to interact with an NPC named Bob. The NPC requests the player to collect 3 Glow Berries to test the quest feature in the game. Upon completing the Glow Berry quest, they are then teleported to an obstacle course or an Obby where they must test out the double-jump and wall jump features as shown in the image above.

What more to do in Prototype?
Once the player has completed the obstacle course, they will then be teleported to another island where they must test a newly added mechanism where the player must try and open up a door by pressing the E key. After they open the door and the developer confirms that this feature is working as expected, they then bid farewell to the player, and the Robloxian is then kicked from the experience.
Next, a notification is displayed on their game screens that says "You were kicked from this experience. Thanks for testing the game" as shown below. This happens because Prototype is still in its early stages and is not yet a complete game.
Robloxians can expect various new features, mechanics, and an intriguing storyline to be added to the game in the upcoming months with updates.
Robloxians must also familiarize themselves with the basic controls in the game:
- WASD - Use these keys to move your character around.
- Space - Press this key to jump over obstacles.
- Left-click - Press this key to interact with the GUI and other options.
- E - Use this key to open doors and interact with NPCs and other interactable objects.
- Mouse - You can use the mouse to look around.
