Overview

The game is all about reeling the biggest fish you can and selling it to the merchant to make a profit. Since this title doesn't force quests on you, you can play it at your own pace and gradually check out everything it offers. This includes fishing, one of the main mechanics in this game, and selling fish.

How to catch a fish in the game

While almost every other thing in the game is relatively straightforward, the fishing minigame can be slightly challenging, especially for new players. Unlike similar titles, you must complete a couple of steps before you can reel in the fish successfully. The whole fishing mechanic can be broken into three main parts:

Throwing the hook
Shaking the rod
Reeling the fish

However, this is easier said than done, making the minigame quite frustrating initially. Once you equip the fishing rod, press and hold the mouse button to cast the line. Watch the bar and make sure the indicator is near the green line since this will let you throw the line farther.

Next, start clicking on the Shake icon as it appears on the screen. It will move to different locations, so make sure to keep up with it. As soon as you click on all such icons on your screen, a fish will bite the bait. Once this happens, a new bar will appear at the bottom of the screen. This is where the hard part begins.

Your goal now is to hold and release the mouse button as necessary to ensure the fish icon stays in the white bar that keeps moving around. Holding the button shifts the bar towards the right, and releasing the button makes it go left. Continue doing this until the second bar at the bottom is full. When it is, you will have caught the fish.

Players can use a bait to increase catch a fish faster and increase their chances. To obtain bait, you must contact the NPC fishing on the shores sitting near some crates. Interact with him and purchase this item from him.

Selling the fish and upgrading your setup

The next step after you get some loot is to sell it for money. You can do so by visiting the merchant with a shop on the hill. If you have a fish in your inventory, select the "I'd like to sell this" option after interacting with him. He will take the fish and give you some money in return.

The only upgrade you need in the game is a better fishing rod. This will allow you to catch higher-quality fish and be much more efficient in doing so. You can purchase rods from the regular merchant or wait for the traveling one to visit your location.
