The Fungal Rod also needs players to talk to a certain NPC and complete his quest to obtain it. However, if you're new to the game or have yet to explore all the parts, then it will be impossible for you to locate this item.

The first step to getting this rod is to reach the Mushgrove Swamp. To do so, talk to the Shipwright standing near the shore. You can purchase a boat from him and use it to travel around. Spawn your boat and head over to the island. Once you land, you must look for an NPC named Agaric. He is a mushroom-like character propped against giant mushrooms on the island.

He will ask you to hunt down some alligators. For those unaware, you can hunt down this create from the area right behind Agaric. All you need to do is set the line and wait for an alligator to bite. Then, go through the regular fishing minigame and reel in your catch. As soon as you give the alligator to Agaric, he will offer you the Fungal Rod as a reward.
