India’s Chain Singh became the 7th shooter to seal an Olympic quota at the ISSF World Cup in Gabala on Friday. The 26-year-old finished seventh in qualification in the 50m Rifle 3 Position event with a score of 1174 out of 1200. He fired a score of 395 out of 400 in Kneeling, 396 out of 400 in Prone and 383 out of 400 in Standing to finish 7th out of the 11 shooters who participated and thereby also booked a spot in the final.

Chain won a bronze medal in the same category at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon and won a gold at the International Shooting Competition of Hannover in May. With this qualification, Chain joins Jitu Rai, Apurvi Chandela, Abhinav Bindra, Gagan Narang, Gurpreet Singh and Prakash Nanjappa to book a quota for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
However, the final didn't prove to be a memorable experience for Chain as he finished in 8th position with a score of 403.7.
