Saina clinched her maiden Yonex Sunrise All India Open Superseries title after defeating the World No. 8 Thai shuttler Ratchanok Intanon in March's battle of the best. The top-seeded Saina prevailed over the 20-year-old Intanon 21-16, 21-14 in the women’s singles final which lasted for 49 minutes.
With this win, Saina also became the first Indian shuttler to win the All India Super Series title. Unfortunately for her, after that tournament, she didn't win any other Superseries titles in the year.
