BattlegroundBattleground is now gone and overall the PPV was widely considered a success. A series of solid matches filled the event, and as a plethora of performers walked away as huge winners.Owens and Cena delivered another fantastic display, the NXT divas proved why they are a force to be reckoned with, Wyatt reunited with an old pal, and a legend returned in a shocking end to the PPV.Summerslam is nearing close, and every victory is ever so important. So let’s take a look now at the 5 biggest winners of WWE Battleground 2015.
#5 Seth Rollins
Seth Rollins was able to walk away from Battleground with his precious WWE World Heavyweight championship and for that fact alone is
why he manages to just sneak into our biggest winners list.
Rollins was putting on a fairly solid match up with Lesnar before a surprise interruption concluded the match with a DQ finish. However, this allowed Rollins to keep his coveted title and continue his role as WWE’s top heel.
Who knows what awaits Rollins for Summerslam, another match with Ambrose for their classic feud, a match with Triple H or possibly someone completely different.
#4 Bray Wyatt
The new face of fear Bray Wyatt was able to regain some momentum at Battleground picking up a big win over Roman Reigns. Furthermore, he was aided by his former Wyatt Family brother, Luke Harper, signifying some sort of reunification of the duo. When Eric Rowan is ready to return from injury he may also team back up them thus completing the trio.
Wyatt’s feud with Reigns seems set to continue although there have been some rumours that Wyatt may instead face Sting at Summerslam. Some now have even suggested a potential tag match with Reigns and Sting facing Bray and Harper.
#3 John Cena
The third match in the Cena v Owens story was just as entertaining and spectacular as the rest. Cena and Owens have both managed to once again put on a 5-star display.
Personally, I still believe Owens should have gone over, but he didn’t, therefore John Cena has to be included on our biggest winners list.
Since winning the US title, Cena has been delivering some of the best performances of his entire career and tonight was no different.
Hopefully WWE will book Cena in a triple threat match for Summerslam against Owens and Cesaro with either of the latter winning the title.
#2 Undertaker
The deadman has returned again.
Brock Lesnar looked to be closing in on a victory when the Undertaker appeared to cost him the match. Undertaker delivered a low blow before hitting the chokeslam followed by two tombstone piledrivers.
It would seem Taker is seeking vengeance for the conquering of his streak but also potentially for the attack on his (kayfabe) brother Kane.
Also with Taker delivering a low blow to a recently turned face Lesnar, speculation has risen as to whether Taker is going to be a heel. However due to his immense popularity it’s likely he’ll be cheered regardless.
One thing’s for certain though, The phenom was a huge winner at Battleground and will almost certainly face Lesnar in a match at Summerslam.
#1 Charlotte
The divas division is in a good place right now with the debuts of Charlotte, Becky, Sasha along with other talented main roster stars such as Paige and Naomi.
At Battleground though, it was Charlotte who picked up the victory, forcing Brie to tap out to the figure 8 leg lock in a triple threat.
Charlotte, along with her fellow NXT counterparts, look to be in for a huge push heading into this year’s Summerslam.
She was a huge winner at the Battleground PPV, but perhaps the biggest winner of all was the diva divisions itself.
