The Devil’s fav demonWith Money in the Bank now in the books, WWE's next stop comes at Battleground. The pay-per-view is still weeks away, but WWE has already added two big matches. Two matches, however, does not make up a pay-per-view. There is still a lot of work to be done by WWE and adding matches to Battleground is one of the biggest headaches. Some storylines have been developing over the weeks. These could find a place on the card as well. No matter what decision WWE makes, it will reflect directly in their SummerSlam outing. So here is a look at some of the matches that are worth adding to the Battleground pay-per-view.
#5 Bella Twins vs. Paige and Charlotte
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
WWE's divas division saw an intriguing twist when Paige tried to rally the troops against Bella twins. None of the divas was willing to help Paige in her war against Bellas. This provides the best opportunity for WWE to introduce someone new. And if we take a look at NXT, the best candidate is Charlotte.
She has been the backbone of NXT's divas division ever since Paige left. It would make sense for these two to join hands. If WWE wants to take the feud to a different level, then, they could give Paige a stable of NXT divas. These NXT divas led by Paige could then face off against the WWE divas led by Nikki Bella at SummerSlam.
#4 Wyatt Family vs. Prime Time Players (Tag Team Championship)
Prime Time Players won the tag team championships at Money in the Bank. The team, however, looks nothing more than buffer champions. They are the scapegoats of WWE for the crowning of Wyatt Family. Erick Rowan and Luke Harper have been piling up momentum so far and are the rightful challengers for the title.
With the absence of two main tag teams in place, Wyatt family is the better option to hold the gold as well. It might sound unfair to put Prime Time Players in such a match just weeks after their title win, but in the longer run, this is the “best for business” decision. If Wyatt Family wins, they could go on to have a major match in SummerSlam.
#3 Big Show vs. Ryback vs. The Miz (Intercontinental Championship)
WWE has been brewing an interesting storyline for the Intercontinental Championship. The Big Show and Ryback feud was not drawing any heat. This forced them to add Miz into the mix. The plan has been working so far and this has set up the possibility of a Triple threat match at Battleground.
While Ryback and Big Show rely on their strength to contribute towards the physical part of the storyline, Miz is entertainment. The way in which he slips through amongst both the giants makes the angle a must see one even though it is simple. All three men deserve a three-way match at Battleground and it should have a clean ending as well.
#2 Kevin Owens vs. John Cena (US Championship)
Till now, WWE didn’t introduce championships into the Kevin Owens vs. John Cena feud. This, however, will change in their third encounter. The last two matches were show stealers and a third one will be no different. The introduction of US championship into the scene is for freshness. For the past couple of months, this feud was entirely driven on personal feelings.
Taking it to a championship level will further help the superstars. The story inside the ring would be more compelling. At the same time, Cena will look vulnerable in front of a man who disrespected the United States Championship in every way possible. To make it even more interesting, WWE could put both the titles on the line as well.
#1 Dean Ambrose vs. Masked Kane (Number 1 Contender\'s match)
From the looks of it, the Authority is in no mood to give Dean Ambrose a title shot at Battleground. The rematch between Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar is unlikely to be altered. This leaves Ambrose without a credible match for Battleground. Last week, we saw Ambrose teasing Kane about being the Authority's puppet. This is an angle that the WWE creative could work on.
They can bring back the masked Kane and set up a Number one contender's match. Seeing the masked Kane back will give a fresh feel for the fans. Also, WWE can keep both these men busy. Ambrose could go on and win it, in turn, setting up a match with Lesnar at SummerSlam.
