Battleground happens in two days and as far as last year goes, it did not set a very good example for a debut PPV. But this year, they have some really intriguing matches- the ones we can call new which can be one of the most defining moments in the careers of all the young superstars who are set to showcase what theyve got as wrestlers. The Pay per View consists of 8 matches in total which includes two divas matches. When was the last time somethingthis remotely cool happened to thedivas division?Anyway, here are the stars who should shine that night
#5 Bray Wyatt
After weeks of compelling promos, the JohnCena - Wyatt feud began with a roar but ended with a whimper. It was forgettable and forgettable it shall remain. Jericho can really save Wyatt’s gimmick. Don’t get me wrong, Wyatt is a good performer but that feud with Cena did in no way bring any point to Wyatt’s career.
Wyatt needs to fight with equals and a feud with Ambrose in the future can be much fun but if he has to face legends, somebody like Jericho can really help his character. Hope they are able to reignite the match they had at NXT.
#4 The Intercontinental Champion
WWE has set up soem potential contenders for the Battle Royal. But it seems to be exceedingly clear that Cesaro is set up as the favorite. Itll be interesting if he does not win and is teh final participant to be eliminated but for that to happen the one eliminating him should be someone compelling enough to look like an interesting challenger to Barrett when he returns. Sheamus might just win and unify the titles. Ad even though Barrett and Sheamus have had spectacular matches, itll be interesting to watch Cesaro and Barrett have a match.
#3 Rusev and Lana
Jack Swagger’s face turn has been great thanks to the ethnic turn to the newest and typical storyline he’s involved in with the foriegn heel. Rusev has, for the first time, since his debut found an opponent who he can’t just easily lock into the Accolade in a matter of a few minutes.
And Rusev’s power and agility can go well with Swagger’s mat skills and Zeb Colter and Lana are already there to bring the drama up a notch at ringside. If somebody does win on Sunday, it will be interesting to watch the follow up on Monday.
#2 Paige
It is obvious that the management sees some potential and they are not wrong. But her rivalry with AJ has still somewhat not taken that leap towards something that can be called compelling television.
They have been having quite a few awkward frenemy moments but Sunday’s match between the two should set something worth watching for the future even if Paige ends up on the losing side. They have had two immensely short matches. At Battleground that record should be broken. These two are wrestlers. They deserve to have a longer, better match.
#1 Dean Ambrose - Seth Rollins
These two are set to collide so early on in their WWE careers and this writer thinks this could be a start to a great rivalry. The build up to this one match has been spectacular and the storyline is captivating and so is the character of Dean Ambrose.
While Roman Reigns is being given the main event treatment, it is worth considering if Roman Reigns did not have the protcol WWE look, he wouldn’t even have gotten as far as Rollins and Ambrose have. The two former independent wrestlers will have to perform the way their fan know they can and go on to probably give the best match of the night and maybe the year.
