When the Paris Olympics 2024 begins 16 days later in the French capital, two members from the Indian contingent will look to set sail to fetch some accolades for the country which is yet to win a medal in sailing at the Summer Games. Two exceptional sailers, namely, Nethra Kumanan and Vishnu Saravanan, will be India's representatives on the grand stage.
Notably, the water events will all take place by the Eiffel Tower on the Seine river. There were certain concerns shown by the authorities regarding certain substances found in the river but hopefully those will have been resolved prior to the Olympics.
For both Nethra Kumanan and Vishnu Saravanan, this will be the second Summer Games they'll take part in. Both were part of the Tokyo Games and, in fact, Kumanan became the first Indian woman sailor to get a direct spot in the showpiece event three years back.
