Neeraj Chopra bagged his maiden gold medal at the Paavo Nurmi Games on June 18, after a month away from competition. The reason for this month-long break was a 'feeling' he had in his adductor, which led to him withdrawing from the Ostrava Golden Spike as a precaution prior to the Paris Olympics.

However, following his triumph at the Paavo Nurmi Games, Neeraj Chopra has opened up on his adductor issue. He said:

"The weather was good today, a little bit cold with the wind. But I am happy with my adductor now because I could do all six throws."
"Every year I have some problems with my adductor, maybe after the Olympics, I am going to talk to different doctors," he added.

Chopra, who will next participate at the Paris Diamond League which starts on July 7, also revealed how he wanted to take part in more events leading to the Summer Games. The former Olympic gold medalist explained:

"Initially, I wanted to compete more this season, but it was not possible due to my niggles."

Neeraj Chopra's preparations for Paris Olympics 2024

Neeraj Chopra started this season on a bang after he finished second at the Doha Diamond League with a final throw of 88.36m, the ninth-best mark of his career. He then took part in the Federation Cup (National Senior Athletics Championships) in Bhubaneswar. At this event, he salvaged a gold, although his final throw logged in just 82.27m.

Neeraj Chopra was training with his coach Klaus Bartonietz and physio Ishaan Marwaha in Kuortane, Finland. Now, he will go to Germany for further training ahead of the Summer Games.

After a two-week camp in Germany, Chopra will shift base to the Gloria Sports Arena in Turkey for the final preparations for the Paris Olympics 2024. He said regarding his preparations:

"I will try to stay healthy in the next weeks because then I will throw my best throws."

Notably, this will be Neeraj Chopra's second Olympics campaign after he secured a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
