Apart from Swapnil Kusale's bronze medal in the men's 50m 3P event and Lakshya Sen's progress into the quarter-finals of the men's singles badminton event, there haven't been much good news for Indian fans.
Top Indian boxer Nikhat Zareen has been knocked out in her Round-of-16 bout. On the other hand, HS Prannoy suffered a defeat at the hands of his compatriot Lakshya Sen in the Round of 16. Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, who were deemed medal hopefuls for the nation, also got ousted in the men's doubles quarter-finals by the Malaysian pair of Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik.
Other Indian shooters Sift Kaur Samra and Anjum Moudgil too failed to get past the women's 50m 3P qualification stages. The men's and women's 20km race walk too didn't yield any fruits, as Vikash Singh, Akshdeep Singh, Paramjeet Singh Bisht, and Priyanka Goswami all were knocked out. Akshdeep notably, couldn't finish the race.
In archery, Praveen Jadhav lost in the Round of 64 to China's Kao Wenchao. He was also part of the team event where India reached the quarter-finals but ultimately succumbed to eventual bronze medalists Turkey.
