Vinesh Phogat received a grand welcome in Jhajjar after returning from the Paris Olympics 2024. Phogat was a silver medal hopeful until the final day of the competition before she got disqualified from the competition due to weight issues.
She accumulated more than two kilograms and tried everything possible to reduce the same prior to the next morning when the weight test would take place. However, when the test occured, it was discovered that she was reportedly 100 grams overweight, which was not within the permissable limits and was disqualified from the event.
The disqualification meant that she wasn't taken into contention for a medal despite reaching the finals, defeating former Olympic Games' gold-medalist Yui Susaki in the process. However, that didn't affect the relationship she has with her fans and well-wishers.

Yes, post her disqualification from the Paris Olympics' final, Vinesh Phogat took to social media to announce an emotional retirement from wrestling. However, she released a statement yesterday and now it seems she might change her decision and fight until 2032.
Phogat was supposed to fight USA's Sarah Hildrebrandt in the finals, who ultimately won the gold medal this time out. The Indian wrestler was considered as a favorite to win this match, considering her previous heroics against the USA wrestler. However, the disqualification knocked her out of contention for even a silver medal.
Her silver medal would have matched India's medal tally from the recently concluded Olympic Games to the Tokyo edition three years back, where the nation bagged seven medals, including a gold. This time out, however, India couldn't win a gold medal and ended with an overall ranking of 71.
