Who is Brandon Loschiavo's Coach?

Born May 31, 1997, Brandon Loschiavo is a dedicated American diver and son of Laura and Steve Loschiavo. He also has two older siblings, Amy and Michael. Brandon, who started his diving journey at age 12, has also trained in gymnastics.

He placed 11th in the Men's 10m Platform at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Despite finishing second at the U.S. Olympic Trials and initially not being guaranteed a spot. Although a last-minute athlete withdrawal led to the U.S. receiving a quota spot. This fortunate turn of events allowed Brandon to be added to the U.S. Olympic Diving Team.

Brandon Loschiavo's Previous Coach

Brandon Loschiavo was previously coached by David Boudia, a celebrated American diver. He is the Diving Associate Head Coach at the Purdue University. He clinched the gold medal in the 10-metre platform diving at the 2012 Summer Olympics and earned a bronze in the same event at the 2016 Olympics. Boudia also won bronze in men's synchronized 10-metre platform with Nick McCrory in 2012 and silver with Steele Johnson in 2016. In 2021, Brandon Loschiavo joined Boudia among the elite divers with three career Big Ten titles on the tower.

Drew Johansen's Coaching Career

Since being named the third diving coach in Indiana University history on April 29, 2013, Drew Johansen has elevated the Hoosiers' diving program to unprecedented heights. Johansen has garnered numerous accolades, including being named CSCAA Diving Coach of the Year three times and Big Ten Diving Coach of the Year five times. In the 2023 NCAA Championships, Indiana’s divers contributed 104 points to the men's team's fourth-place finish outscoring all other diving squads under Johansen’s guidance. Andrew Capobianco captured his third three-meter title with a program-record score of 522.60 while Carson Tyler and Quinn Henninger secured top-four finishes. Tyler also claimed his first national title on the platform. The Hoosiers' men swept the Big Ten diving titles for the second consecutive year. On the women's side, the 2023 NCAA Championships saw Anne Fowler win a silver medal in the three-meter springboard while newcomer Skyler Liu placed fourth on the platform. Both Fowler and Liu played pivotal roles in the team’s seventh-place finish and tying a program record.

Johansen was named CSCAA Women’s Diving Coach of the Year and Big Ten Women’s Diving Coach of the Year in the 2021-22 season. Under his guidance, Indiana's divers earned a program-record 13 All-America honors. Notably, Tarrin Gilliland was named CSCAA and Big Ten Diver of the Year and repeated as NCAA Champion in platform diving. Despite a shortened 2020-21 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Johansen’s divers earned multiple All-American honors and two national titles. In the rescheduled Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Johansen led Team USA to three diving medals, including a silver for Capobianco and IU alumni Mike Hixon and Jessica Parratto in synchronized events. Before joining IU, he coached at Duke University, helping Nick McCrory to three NCAA titles. Johansen has also been a U.S. National Team coach leading the American diving team at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics.
