Caeleb Dressel is a professional swimmer from the United States. Dressel specializes in butterfly, freestyle, and individual medley events. The 2024 Olympics gold medalist has represented the USA 3 times in the Olympics and won 8 golds in total in various events. He currently holds the world record in the 50-meter freestyle (SC), 100-meter butterfly (LC & SC), and 100-meter individual medley (SC). Dressel is the 5th individual from the USA to win 5 golds in a single Olympic Games (2020). Dressel recently won gold in the 2024 Olympics in the 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay event which made him a 8-time Olympic medalist from 3 Olympics. He holds American records in several events such as 100-meter freestyle, 50-meter freestyle, 100-meter butterfly, and 50-meter butterfly including short and long courses.

Dressel also had the national record in the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard breaststroke event. Apart from the Olympics, Dressel has 17 medals in the World Championships (LC), including 15 golds and 2 silver. He has 9 World Championships (SC) medals, including 6 gold and 3 silver. He also succeeded in the Pan Pacific Championships by winning 5 medals (2 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze) and in the World Junior Championships where he won 6 medals (1 gold, 2 silver, 3 bronze). Dressel, one of the greatest sprinters in the history of swimming has 10 gold, 4 silver, and 2 bronze in the NCAA Championships, a total of 16 medals. He was named the NCAA Co-Swimmer of the Year in 2016.

Caeleb Dressel High School Career and Records

Caeleb Dressel finished his high school training at Clay High School in Green Cove Springs, Florida. During this time, he also trained with the Bolles School Sharks in Jacksonville. It was here that he met Meghan Haila, who was his training partner and would later turn into his better half. Dressel's impressive swimming career went on as he joined the University of Florida in 2014, where he contended as a collegiate swimmer.

In 2012, Caeleb Dressel led off a 50-yard freestyle relay with a remarkable time of 19.82 seconds, making him the first swimmer under 16 years of age to break the 20-second barrier. That very year, he partook in the US Olympic Trials as the youngest male swimmer at 15 years of age. Despite his age, Dressel showed promise by competing on numerous occasions: he ranked 121st in the 200-meter free-form with a time of 1:55.17 and 100th in the 200-meter individual medley with a time of 2:08.08. He was tied for 145th in the 50-meter freestyle clocking at 23.87 seconds, and tied for 152nd in the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 52.21 seconds.

Dressel had remarkable success at the 2013 FINA World Junior Swimming Championships at the age of 17. He won six medals, including a gold in the 100-meter freestyle. He set another championship record with a time of 48.97 seconds. This time Dressel broke Michael Phelps' National Age Group record by eight-hundredths of a second (17-18 years). His overall medal count at the World Junior Championships included one gold, two silver, and three bronze.

He broke the 19-second barrier in the 50-yard freestyle as the youngest swimmer. He finished the race with a time of 18.94 to begin the relay for his team in the Speedo Winter Junior National Championships in 2013.
