Carson Foster is an American swimmer who is set to represent the USA in the Paris Summer Olympics 2024. Born on October 26th, 2001 in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA, Foster first made headlines for himself as a youth swimmer breaking the National Age Group record in the 50m butterfly when he was just 10 years old. His time of 29.91 seconds made him the youngest American to swim the race in under 30 seconds. In the 2016 Olympic trial, Foster for the first time competed at an elite level against the best of the best in the 400m individual medley, finishing 43rd overall in the preliminaries.
At the 2017 World Junior Championship, he won two silver medals in the 200-meter backstroke and as part of the 4x200-meter freestyle relay team. He continued the streak by winning three additional gold medals at the 2019 World Junior Championships. Foster missed a spot in the 2020 Summer Olympics as he stood 8th in the 200-meter freestyle and third in the 400-meter individual medley. After the disappointment in the Olympic trials, Foster returned to the University of Texas where he joined the Texas Longhorns swimming team. It was during this time that he experienced a significant breakthrough, swimming a time of 4:08.46 in the 400-meter individual medley, which was the fastest time in the world that year.
Foster is preparing for the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, where he wishes to achieve everything he couldn’t in the 2020 Summer Olympics.
