Charles August Swanson, popularly recognized as Charlie Swanson, is an accomplished American competitive swimmer. Charlie joined NOVA of Virginia Aquatics in 2012 to kickstart his professional swimming career. In 2016, he attended St. Christopher's High School in Virginia, United States. At that time, he was honored with the titles of Virginia Swimmer of the Year and Virginia Independent School Athletic Association (VISAA) Male Athlete of the Year. Upon finishing high school, Charlie enrolled at the University of Michigan as a student-athlete.

As a freshman, Charlie won a gold medal and had impressive results in various events during the Big Ten Championship. At the 2016 Junior Pan Pacific Championships, he clinched his first international medal by securing a silver. During the 400-meter event at the 2019 Pan American event, Charlie achieved a personal best time of 4:11.46, securing the gold medal with an impressive lead of almost 8 seconds. He then competed in various events, including Summer Nationals–East (2021), International Swimming League (2021), US International Team Trials (2022) and FINA World Championships (2022).

After competing in multiple events, Charlie qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics by finishing second in the 100-meter breaststroke final with a personal best of 59.16. At the Olympics, the 26-year-old athlete grabbed a gold medal in the mixed 400-meter medley relay and a silver medal in the men's 400-meter medley relay. He also finished 14th in the men's 100-meter breaststroke.

In 1999, Mary advanced to the position of Senior Associate at Stumpf and Associates, taking on responsibilities such as providing fundraising consulting and managing various tasks for non-profit organizations.

In July 2005, Mary joined as the Director of Development at Sabot School in Stony Point, New York. In this role, she developed a fundraising and volunteer program for a new independent school in the Richmond community by utilizing best practices. After spending nearly seven years in that role, she joined the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
