She suffered a major back injury before her selections in the 2024 Paris Olympics, after the injury she couldn’t perform properly in simple events and faced a lot of difficulties during her training. In order to make it to the Olympic team, she had to compete in the 50 and 100 meter freestyle, in the preliminary round she completed the swim in a given time of 54.72 seconds, and in the final round Connolly delivered again finishing in 53.92 seconds to beat Moesch and secure a spot in the final.
