Born October 26, 2001, Carson Foster is one of America’s premier competitive swimmers. He not only broke Michael Phelps' 10-under National Age Group record in the 100-meter butterfly but also became the youngest swimmer to break 30 seconds in the 50-meter butterfly. Foster earned three gold medals in 2019 and two silver medals at the 2017 World Junior Championships. He also represented the United States at the 2018 Junior Pan Pacific Championships where he broke multiple National Age Group records set by swimming legends like Caeleb Dressel and Michael Phelps. He was ranked as SwimSwam’s #1 NCAA recruit for the college class of 2020. He committed to swim for the University of Texas. He won titles in the 200-meter Individual Medley, 400-meter Individual Medley, and 200-meter backstroke at the Big 12 Championships and helped Texas secure a national title in the 800-meter freestyle relay as a freshman.
Foster’s international career started at the 2021 Olympic Trials where he set a world-leading time in the 400-meter Individual Medley shortly after narrowly missing an Olympic berth. He earned silver medals in the 400-meter Individual Medley and 200-meter Individual Medley at the 2022 World Championships. Foster announced his decision to turn professional signing a contract with Mizuno through 2028 in 2023. He secured a silver medal in the 400-meter individual Medley and contributed to the USA's success in the 800-meter freestyle relay at the 2023 World Aquatics Championships. At the 2024 U.S. Olympic trials, he secured his spot at the 2024 Paris Olympics by clocking 4:07.64 in the 400-meter Individual Medley and later winning the 200-meter Individual Medley with a personal best of 1:55.65.
