Q: What kind of experience does the current team have and how do you think that will improve the present scenario in Indian swimming?
Sharath Gayakwad is a Paralympian swimmer and Arjuna Awardee. At the 2014 Asian Games, he broke P.T. Usha's record for most number of medals by an Indian at any multi-discipline event by winning 6 medals.
We have a fresh perspective towards many underlying practices and guidelines followed in Indian swimming.
We are also providing necessary support for sports specialists like - nutritionists, physiotherapists, and counselors. The athletes can get their service very easily. We are working closely to bring the laurels for good performances at all levels and support them by engaging with right sponsors.
Q: What has been your biggest challenge?
The biggest challenge is hiring. As we are an athlete-centric organization, we want high energy individuals who are eager to contribute to sports ecosystem. They need not be professionals, but passionate people who love the sports.
Q: How will your startup look like 5 years down the line with respect to Indian sports?
We want to make people realize that sports can be a full-time career too! We do not want any athlete to sell their kidneys or wash cars to realize their dreams.
We want to bring the revolution in sports just the way Amul did for dairy. These people are known to put their heart and soul achieving the goal they are dreaming and we are sure that collectively we can make a big impact.
Moral of the story: With emerging technology, media innovation, and non-profit initiatives things are quickly changing. If we want to put a strong performance in swimming at the Olympics, isn't Gamatics a stepping stone to it?
