Josh Matheny is an American competitive swimmer. He represents the United States on the national team and was born on October 16, 2002. Matheny trains with the Pittsburgh Elite Aquatics Club and currently swims for the Indiana Hoosiers men's swimming team at Indiana University Bloomington under the coaching of Dave Schraven.
Matheny won a gold medal in the 4x100m medley relay and a bronze in the 4x100m mixed medley relay at the 2023 World Championships in Fukuoka. Additionally, Matheny has earned multiple gold and silver medals at the World Junior Championships, including victories in the 200m breaststroke and various relay events in Budapest 2019. At the 2019 World Junior Championships in Budapest, he made a splash by setting new records and securing a silver medal in the 100m breaststroke. His achievements earned him recognition, including the Age Group Swimmer of the Year award in 2019 and the Swammy Award for 17-18 Male of the Year in 2020.
