Washington, June 23 (IANS) London Olympic champion Katie Ledecky has bettered her own 800 metre freestyle world record in a swimming meet in Texas.
The 17-year-old American clocked eight minutes 11 seconds on Sunday, shaving 2.86 seconds off her world best, set at the World Championships in Barcelona in August last year.
It was the second world record Ledecky shattered in the Texas event. She broke her previous record in the 1500 metre freestyle with a time of 15:34.23, improving on the mark of 15:36.53 she had set in Barcelona.
