Kieran Smith is a professional swimmer who was raised in his hometown of Ridgefield, Connecticut, United States of America, but was born in Sydney, Australia, on May 20, 2000. He went to Ridgefield High School and was active in the Aquatic Club. During his high school spell, Kieran won the Swimmer of the Year Award concurrently from 2016 to 2017. Within that same year, he qualified for the US National Junior Team and won a silver medal at the 2017 Junior World Championships in the 200-meter individual medley event.
He graduated high school in 2018 and got admitted to the University of Florida, majoring in physiology and kinesiology. Kieran Smith swam for the Florida Gators, representing them at the NCAA Championships. He participated in the 4×100-meter medley relay and the 4×200-meter freestyle relay events at the World Short Course Championships and holds records in these events. Other records he holds are in the 500-yard freestyle with a swim time of 4:06.32 and the 400-meter freestyle at the 2020 SEC Championships.
At the 2020 Summer Olympics, Kieran Smith won the bronze medal and also competed in the 4×200-meter freestyle relay with a fourth-place finish. He was named Male Swimmer of the Year by the SEC in 2020. Representing the swimming team of the USA, Kieran Smith has competed at the World Championships, World Championships, and World Junior Championships, winning 10 total medals across them. He won 5 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze medals. He was born into the family of Sandra and Patrick Smith and had an older brother, Grayson Smith.
